Dr. Leonard B. Hardesty

"I became interested in Optometry after my first eye examination at age 10. As a child we assume that how we see things is how everyone sees things. My eye doctor showed me a clear and beautiful world that I had not known and I wanted to be able to give others that gift"

Dr. Hardesty founded Eye Care Associates in 1976 after graduating with honors from the Illinois College of Optometry. In his ongoing quest to improve the Optometric field, he actively pursued the passage of bills in the Illinois House and Senate that allow Optometrists to use Diagnostic and Therapeutic Pharmaceutical Agents and continues to be involved in the politics of Optometry. Dr. Hardesty has DPA and TPA certification. He is a member of the American Optometric Association (AOA), the AOA Contact Lens Section, the AOA Sports Vision Section, the Illinois Optometric Association, and the West Suburban Optometric Society. His practice includes patients of all ages and his expertise lies in the treatment and management of diseases that effect the eyes and in the fitting of contact lenses.

When not in the office, you can find Dr. Hardesty on his sailboat, enjoying a round of golf or perhaps playing his guitar. He and his wife, Caren, live in Downers Grove.
